This is extraordinary. The title of the podcast ‘Scamanda’ gives it away: Amanda is a con artist, a scammer. Her cancer journey was fake. What is incredible is how her scam taps into loopholes everywhere, making it easy to exploit for gain, and how difficult it was for people to challenge it. In the end, the way skeptics managed to uncover the dupe proved to be the most fascinating part of the podcast for me. I do love determined creative investigators who doggedly track down clues to uncover the truth. As for Amanda: I hope I never have the misfortune to cross paths with someone as callously ruthless and manipulative as her.
